About Acupuncture Treatment

Your first consultation lasts one hour. I ask detailed questions about your current condition, general health and lifestyle. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) looks at underlying causes which may have an impact on your health.

Wrist pulses are taken and your tongue observed - these are good indications of health and help a diagnosis to be reached. A short Acupuncture treat- ment is given at your first visit; treatment is tailored to each individual. Ear Acupuncture (a shorter treatment) can be effective for addictions to alcohol, cigarettes or food.

Follow-up treatments are usually 45 minutes. Fewer detailed questions are asked and longer treatment is given.

Acupuncture is a safe, gentle treatment. Fine, sterile, disposable needles are used and strict standards of hygiene are observed according to British Acupuncture Council regulations. After your treatment, you might feel tired; you are encouraged to rest to help the healing process and improve energy levels.

How many treatments will I need?

Each person is unique. Most people need one or two in the first week, then on a weekly basis. Sometimes only a few treatments are needed; the effects can be quite dramatic. In other cases, more are necessary. It depends on each individual and condition.
